Responsibilities
The System VP, Acute Care Quality is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the acute care quality function and clinical quality improvement across CommonSpirit Health. This individual works closely with the System Senior Vice President, Quality and the System VP, Ambulatory Quality to identify opportunities to optimize performance, build internal competencies, foster a strong and empowered team and create a rigorous approach to quality throughout the organization, while utilizing a strong focus on the appropriate use of resources. This individual also works collaboratively with leaders at the system, division and local level to foster and reinforce a culture of quality, that proactively seeks opportunities for performance improvement, designed to continually raise the bar on quality. A strong clinical background is required for purposes of clinical case review and care evaluation. The System VP, Acute Care Quality provides oversight for medical staff services across the organization.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation, interpretation and maintenance of acute care quality outcomes both clinically and administratively to ensure the highest standards in treatment and care of patients and to ensure compliance with all relevant licensing and accrediting bodies.
- Provides functional oversight of acute care quality across CommonSpirit Health to include mentoring of new quality leaders, development of tools and standard processes, ownership of key communication venues including monthly calls for quality and patient safety leaders, and serving as the quality representative on various system committees.
- Works to ensure a standard process for peer review across the organization and to be a resource for ad hoc focus study and clinical case review in coordination with local and division leadership and medical staff
- Works with the System SVP Quality to provide oversight and improvement for the CommonSpirit Health BOST clinical goals including serving as an administrative lead for assigned clinical goals. The latter requires proactive management and leadership of all relevant improvement activities: development of toolkits, hosting of monthly calls, facilitating sharing of best practices, conducting on-site visits and meetings with facility based teams and leaders as applicable, etc.
- Collaborates with Patient Safety and Enterprise Risk Management leaders for alignment and to effectively integrate functions and coordinate collaboration across CommonSpirit Health.
- Collaborates with Managed Care leaders for payer pay- for- performance programs.
- Develops effective working relationships with Division and Market CMOs, CNOs, Quality and Patient Safety Leaders to ensure coordination of quality related activities, clinical quality improvement, medical staff services related activities and other applicable activities and services.
- Manages staff in all areas of responsibility for maximum effectiveness and outcomes.
- Provides leadership and guidance to Medical Staff Services across the enterprise, including the implementation and use
of a standard credentialing and provisioning tool

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field. Preferred education: Master’s or Post Graduate Degree in a related field required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the discipline with seven (7) years leadership experience progressive management responsibility in an acute healthcare setting , including leading quality and patient safety (5 years).
- Experience developing and implementing clinical, service and operational process improvement initiatives, both small and large scale.
- Knowledge and expertise in specific performance improvement /CQI methodologies. Current knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Licensure:
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or Healthcare Quality and Management Certification (HCQM), or Certificate of Professional Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (CPQPS) within 2 years of employment is required.
- Current Clinical Licensure (e.g. RN, Pharm.D) required

Compensation Range: $88.46 to $123.84, hourly rates, annualized. Position is eligible for incentive pay based on company performance.
