Summary/Objective of Position:
Under supervision of the IT Operations Manager, the Computer Technician accomplishes the DIT's strategic goals and objectives by planning, organizing and implementing the assigned functions and projects required to operate and maintain optimal departmental activities and services; maintain confidentiality of all privileged information.
The Computer Technician performs monitoring, maintaining, installing computer systems and peripheral equipment; provides computer support functions and assists students, faculty and staff, and external clients at Dine College. Provides problem solving and instructions for end users; and ensures systems operations efficiency and integrity. Assist with monitoring the Interactive television (ITV) system, ITV printers and basic troubleshooting the ITV system.

10% - Maintain records of activities through the use of the Help Desk Request System. Troubleshoot issues and document solutions using Helpdesk Request System. Follows all customer service processes from open to close of trouble ticket.
15% - Set up hardware and install and configure standard software and device drivers; follow replacement plans as scheduled; complete necessary disposition documentation and obtain proper signatures; recover all replaced and decommissioned equipment to the disposal site.
40% - Diagnose, repair and test computer problems to restore functionality; use diagnostic tools to assess or monitor computer systems and printers; manage security options on client systems and report attacks; troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions.
10% - Provides technical assistance for the ITV system; provide instruction and support to end users in the use of computers, printers, ITV printers, projectors, and peripheral. Assists in evaluating end user needs and recommends/escalate appropriate actions to resolve issues.
10% - Assist in maintaining IT inventory and update inventory database. Follows naming conventions and assignments within the inventory database. Maintain IT compliances with software licensing and vendor hardware agreements.
10% - Provides support for user training and events for all equipment and extending network to event locations.
5% - Performs research on varying topic as requested by Supervisor and other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
1 year of experience with Windows or Macintosh operating systems
Note: 3 years of experience in computer support or service in lieu of education requirement
Preferrred:
Certification CompTIA or A+ preferred
1 year of directly related experience in computer support or service
1 year of printer troubleshooting and repair
Knowledge:
Communicate in clear and concise matter, both orally and written, with all levels of internal and external contacts to provide clarity; gather and disseminate information and resolve issues.
Demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Skills:
Must be able to demonstrate skill in the use and repair of computer equipment and software.
Use of help desk ticketing systems or applications.
Experience with imaging computer for individual workstations and expediting upgrading and patches to computers in the college labs.
Anticipate areas of difficulty and answers questions to provide solutions to meet the needs.
Set job priorities and meet deadlines.
Abilities:
Ability to model programs to the needs of users for desired results.
Ability to train small or large group of end users.
Ability to cultivate positive working relationship with end users and co-workers using customer service practices.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to follow procedures.
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Valid Driver's license.
Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory
