Summary/Objective of the Position

Assist in promoting and achieving Dine College's marketing and communications goals, as outlined by the Marketing Manager. Ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the department and maintain a service-oriented relationship with all college departments, faculty, and staff. Additionally, provide high-quality graphic design and all related media associated with graphic design.

Graphic Design: Continually stays informed about the latest technological developments in the realm of graphics and marketing, encompassing print, digital media, social media, video, and abstract web design. This knowledge is utilized to further the objectives and goals of the marketing department. Regular meetings are held with DC staff to define project scopes and involve the marketing manager when necessary to resolve conflicts or clarify college marketing targets.

Expertise in contemporary graphic design software is leveraged to advise, coordinate, and produce graphic art independently. This includes creating visual materials for a wide range of college publications such as Dine College Magazine, college catalog, posters, flyers, postcards, newspaper advertisements, brochures, invitations, business cards, college forms, event programs, social media, video graphics, among other promotional and graphic tasks.

The role requires the consistent meeting of tight deadlines and prioritizing workloads best to fulfill the needs of the college and marketing departments. Maintaining an accurate, real-time log of all job requests and projects submitted to marketing is essential to track jobs and ensure timely completion and delivery.

Operation of marketing color printers and copiers along with large format printers is required to deliver efficient, high-quality printing and bindery. Efforts are made to reduce paper and toner waste where feasible. It is imperative to copy all work files and completed jobs to the marketing production server daily.

The role also entails advising, assisting, and participating in the production of all marketing printing projects to verify their quality and accuracy. Assistance is provided to the marketing and communication staff in producing content for Dine College media properties as needed. Marketing events are also supported.

Ensuring all publications, both print and digital, are proofread for accuracy, spelling, and grammatical correctness before publication is a crucial responsibility. The role also involves supervising and training student interns assigned to the department, equipping them with the skills to work remotely using technology.

Photography: Capture high-quality images of events, individuals, faculty, and students utilizing a digital camera. Organize and maintain a comprehensive archive of all DC print publications and photography. Manage a digital photo archive and database, ensuring all images captured on behalf of the college are correctly stored and categorized. Execute professional photo shoots with appropriate lighting, backdrops, photo editing, and positioning. Conceptualize, design, and bring to life photography projects from inception to completion. Collaborate with team members to operate drone cameras for unique photographic perspectives. Stay updated with current technologies and trends in photography to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the DC Marketing and Communications department. Collaborate with the DC Marketing and Communication team to generate engaging and shareable visuals, enabling the college to stand out on social media platforms consistently. Processed, organized, and managed photo consent forms in accordance with legal requirements. Maintain digital signage and stay informed about federal regulations related to student protection policies.Perform additional duties as assigned by the department. Candidates should have a passion for photography, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work well in a team-focused environment.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience


Minimum:

Associate Degree in graphic design or related field or years of experience in an educational setting. I also have experience with photography, social media, software, and troubleshooting.

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Digital Graphic Design plus two years of related work experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge:

A creative designer will join our marketing department as an ingenious designer. Candidates should easily navigate through graphic design software and always be up-to-date with the latest trends in design and marketing. Candidates should possess creativity, and fresh design ideas will be highly valued. It would be beneficial if you have a good grasp of advanced promotional theories and practices. A thorough understanding of advertising, including ad writing and setup, is essential. Being well-versed in digital marketing is a big plus. Proficiency in graphic format and layout, along with know-how of tips, tricks, and problem-solving, will be much appreciated. A good understanding of social media trends and specifications would be ideal, as it would help align the goals and objectives of the Marketing and Communication Department and work with social media requirements.

Skills:

The candidate should be capable of independent work. Technical proficiency in the latest iterations of desktop publishing and graphic design software, including but not limited to ADOBE Creative Suite and Microsoft Suite, is required. The individual should possess an advanced understanding of photo and video camera usage, along with video editing skills. Web design skills and familiarity with content management systems are essential, as is knowledge of various social media platforms. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the functionalities of large-scale color copiers and bindery operations. The individual must stay up-to-date with technological advancements, industry trends, and updates in the software and equipment. The role also demands robust oral and written communication skills for effective presentation and assimilation of information pertinent to both internal and external projects.

Abilities:

The Graphic Designer candidate shall possess an inventive and resourceful mindset, capable of managing tasks independently, effectively organizing workload, and adhering to set deadlines. This role requires handling sensitive information with utmost confidentiality. The ideal candidate should possess a patient demeanor and foster positive interactions with team members. The ability to professionally engage with challenging individuals is crucial, as is the talent for resolving complex issues and incidents. Excellent communication skills are a must to prevent misunderstandings and ensure smooth operations.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

The graphic designer role may require moderate lifting, prolonged standing, interpersonal communication, event setup, and handling and transportation of materials.

Other Requirement(s):

A valid driver's license is required. Knowledge of Navajo culture and cultural sensitivity is helpful but optional. The ability to work remotely with mobile technology is necessary.
