Job Summary:
BRIC is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to join our team to provide
environmental compliance consultation and management services in the development and implementation of various environmental compliance programs. Assignments may pertain to development and implantation of management plans and policies to comply with Federal, state, and local environmental control regulations and goals (e.g., water, air, solid waste. The position requires knowledge of multiple State, Federal, and Local regulations pertaining to environmental compliance programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide environmental compliance consultation and management services in the development and implementation of various environmental compliance programs. Assignments may pertain to development and implantation of management plans and policies to comply with Federal, state, and local environmental control regulations and goals (e.g., water, air, solid waste. The position requires knowledge of multiple State, Federal, and Local regulations pertaining to environmental compliance programs.
Assures compliance with established standards by providing environmental compliance management, direction, and control for assigned environmental program(s) related, but not limited, to following areas: Air Emissions, monitoring and data submittal, Underground/Aboveground Storage Tanks Management, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Oil Pollution Act (OPA), Clean Air Act (CAA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Uses technical and professional knowledge in preparing and evaluating environmental regulations as they relate to projects and operations.
Recommends appropriate actions, including preparation of project documents and justifications or operational changes to effect resolutions to comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations and the command mission, Studies and professional technical guidance are related, but not limited, to one or more of the following areas: air, noise, water pollution control; solid waste and hazardous waste management; historic and cultural preservation; endangered species management; technical and engineering data and certifications; emergency response to hazardous spill incidents; solid and hazardous waste reduction and recycling; and hazardous storage tank/facility management
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):
- Active Secret clearance required and or ability to obtain. Must be able to pass background checks in order to access and work on Federal sites and obtain a Secret Clearance. Drug testing will be required for selected candidate.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in environmental compliance disciplines.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge/understanding of other Federal, State, and Local Environmental Compliance and Permitting.
- Dependable, flexible, and able spend time in the field.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
- Certifications and training preferred; 40 hour HAZWOPER, First Aid and CPR, Hazardous Waste training (RCRA), Maryland Underground Storage Tank Inspector or Operator certification
