Dinsmore is seeking a Senior Events Manager at its Cincinnati, OH location.
Client facing events held by the Firm represent an important opportunity to engage with current and potential clients. They are also a means for the Firm to raise its profile in key markets. This is a senior level role, enabling the right candidate to drive a vision which sees the firm elevate its capacity for in person and virtual events from an operational perspective, while developing strategies to capitalize on the opportunities created by its market outreach.
This role will have a close working relationship with the Chief Business Development Officer, Department Chairs, Practice Group Leaders and leaders of the firm’s industry initiatives, to build out and execute measurable, time based objectives for events. These objectives will demonstrate that events result in the development of a sales pipeline, new work, improved relationships with third party referral sources, and an improved market profile aligned with the firm’s overarching brand objectives.
This is a hands on position which will suit a self-starter with the enthusiasm and drive to create new approaches and implement new ideas. The role requires a highly organized, detail oriented individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The individual should also be adept at personnel management, capable of building relationships and have a strong client service orientation. Some travel will be required as part of the role.
Responsibilities
Conducting an assessment of current event capabilities, intake processes for events, client targeting and invite development. Suggesting and implementing recommendations. Keeping any new processes under review and suggesting and implementing further improvements as necessary.
Working with the attorneys leading each event, developing a strategy for events undertaken by the firm, including identifying business development, relationship and profile objectives, particularly for major events such as the Firm’s annual continuing education (CLE) day for clients.
Monitoring the execution and return on investment delivered by the Firm’s events, as well as events associated with sponsorships. Providing insights and reporting related to client and prospect attendance and helping lead event debriefs to explore successful aspects and elements to be improved. Analyzing the financial cost and impact of events as part of the reporting.
Ensuring all events are marketed effectively and, working with attorneys, developing invitations which drive attendance.
Facilitating the training of event professionals to a high standard. Assessing capability versus demand to make the case for additional resources where necessary.
Identifying suitable event locations and negotiating contractual arrangements with vendors, including for corporate rates.
Assessing and recommending third party providers to support events. Proactively suggesting new technologies to increase audience engagement and market impact.
Overseeing the execution by other members of the team of a range of internal events and their execution.
Collaborating with team members across the firm including lawyers, business professionals in the Business Development and Marketing and other departments.
Requirements
Minimum of ten years related experience, preferably in a corporate, hospitality or professional services environment.
Strategic and critical thinker who is interested in trends, best practices and innovation.
Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure on a large number of initiatives simultaneously.
Flexible mindset with an ability to focus on and achieve short and long-range goals.
Experience in dealing with highly intelligent and demanding clients at a senior level.
Leadership capabilities with the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, leadership, vendors and marketing teams.
