Position: School Counselor - 2024 - 2025 School Year

Classification: Exempt - Salaried

Hours: Part Time – Full-Time if Combined With Teaching Other Classes

Reports To: Principal – Great Falls Central Catholic High School

Job Summary:

Great Falls Central Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Great Falls, Montana and is one of three Catholic high schools in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Great Falls-Billings.

Great Falls Central Catholic High School is committed to developing academic excellence in a Christ-centered community that strengthens leadership and service to others.

Great Falls Central Catholic High School is a Class C, fully state accredited, high school with a newer facility, 9 sports teams (Mustangs), a full-time principal and counselor. The school consists of small classes, an international student program, supportive parents and searching for a school Counselor who wants to work with and educate the “whole student”.

The Great Falls Central Catholic High School Counselor offers appropriate and effective social, emotional, academic, and personal support to our students while working with all stakeholders including administrators, faculty, parents, and community partners. The GFCCHS Counselor in collaboration with school leadership and building administrator, endorses a positive and safe learning environment through creating a culture of acceptance for students of all abilities, while promoting the importance of personal growth and development.

Staff do not have to be Catholic to work at this school but must be willing to support the mission of the school and basic Catholic doctrine.

Duties:

Designs appropriate support services for students using an individualized Student Support Plan (SSP) to aid in the success of the student, while working closely with LEA personnel.

Creates schoolwide class schedule.

Creates individual student class schedules.

Provide the necessary support to students and families, beginning freshman year, for post-high school planning and college exploration.

Assists students with academic planning, accountability, and/or organization.

Counsel students with personal, social, disciplinary, and behavioral issues.

Collaborates with teachers to identify ways to improve the achievement and social development of students, along with ensuring implementation of the SSP if applicable.

Coordinates student surveys and testing (i.e., ACT, ASVAB, etc.).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Counseling, Education or related field preferred.

Current Montana High School Counselor K-12 Certification (or willing to pursue it if licensure is from a different state).

Counselor must have a thorough understanding of assessments and aptitude tests and ability to properly interpret the results.

Demonstrated knowledge of counseling techniques appropriate for students at the specified grade level.

Must have excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills when working with colleagues, families, and students across diverse backgrounds. Be outgoing and possess excellent organizational skills.

Related experience heavily preferred.

This is a 1-1 device school. All students are issued Chromebooks, and all teachers are issued laptops to use for their classes. All classrooms have new interactive boards.

This position is a .28 FTE to .42 FTE or more if combined with other subject areas and/or duties.
