Direct Automation is currently seeking an Automation Designer to join our Automation team. The Project Designer is responsible for accurately estimating the controls automation cost of projects by analyzing and compiling the cost factors, as well as creating quotation packages using process documentation, written specifications and designs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The automation designer is responsible for providing project specific estimates to our customers based on written and verbal requests. The automation designer is also responsible for accurately estimating the controls automation cost of projects by analyzing and compiling the cost factors, as well as creating quotation packages using process documentation, written specifications and designs. Your role in this process would be as follows:
- Primary responsibility is to understand, compile and present high-level cost estimates for multiple projects for Direct Automation.
- Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
- Develop detailed cost estimates as designs develop, communicating with various personnel on cost drivers and value engineering opportunities.
- Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost engineering, quality, or availability of materials.
- Participates in pre- construction meeting and relays all pertinent information to the project manager and purchasing.
- Communicates with co-workers , vendors, and subcontractors with the highest level of integrity, ethics, and honesty.
- Prepares final estimate sheets and bid forms as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma, GED or the equivalent.
- 5 years of Automation Controls experience.
- General knowledge of repairing, testing, adjusting, or installing industrial controls, instrumentation, motors, PLC, DCS, etc.
- Technical knowledge of automation controls architecture using Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Emerson DeltaV DCS, Modicon or similar PLC or DCS platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to track and organize projects and information.
- Team player; works cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS;
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical field.
- 7 or more years of relevant experience in industrial automation.
- Proposal and estimating experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Water treatment and wastewater treatment project bidding experience.
- Experience with Connectwise.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
