What does this role entail?
Under the direction of the company Owner/Assistive Technology Professional, the Wheelchair Service Technician will work as an apprentice in the following skills and responsibilities:
- Respond to all customer requests in a timely, friendly manner.
- Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, and/or test electronic/mechanical mobility devices and equipment in accordance with company best practices.
- Test performance of mechanical components and assemblies to diagnose malfunctions using a variety of equipment and software; analyze and record test results; prepare written testing documentation.
- Work with customers to identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems and to work out repair arrangements; coordinate and collaborate with other trades personnel to complete assignments.
- Read schematics, manuals, diagrams, and technical orders to determine installation or repair procedures.
- Align, fit, and assemble component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and templates.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance; maintain equipment logs of performance issues; document system designs and changes; provide reports of work performed.
- Order supplies as needed; keep parts, supplies, and tools in order.
- Completing additional tasks or projects as assigned or required.
- Maintaining compliance with all Company policies and procedures at all times.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current driver’s license, clean driving record, and responsible driving habits.
- An aptitude and desire to grow in mechanical troubleshooting and basic problem solving (previous experience is a plus, but training will be provided).
- Degree/certification in related field a plus, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Emotionally intelligent and perceptive with ability to provide exceptional customer support in a professional, compassionate manner.
- Ability to thrive in an environment of continuous improvement and change.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and adapt to new priorities quickly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in an independent environment under minimal supervision when needed (after adequate training and mentoring have been provided).
- Ability to lift/move moderately heavy objects.
- Ability to bend, reach, and stoop periodically.
- Ability to drive for extended periods.
- Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19.
