Position Overview:
Directional Services Inc. is a nationally ranked company that is leading the way towards clean energy. There is a unique opportunity for a staff accountant within its Accounting & Finance Department. The staff accountant will work side by side with the Senior Accountant to be a pinnacle part of the continued growth at Directional Services Inc. The primary focus will be general accounting and the monthly close process. Within that scope, you should expect to become a specialist in Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable so you can aide the managers of those departments with work flow as it pertains to monthly close. You will also find your self working on unique projects involving cost accounting to aide directors in key business making decisions. This position will be a fast pace working environment that will challenge you continuously
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Review invoices for accuracy for the Accounts Payable Manager
- Review invoices for accuracy for the Accounts Receivable Manager
- Post Receivables to the General Ledger
- Prepare journal entries
- Upload reports to maintain data and control
- Input data for cost accounting
- Process voids and reversals when necessary
- Review accounting functions and create more efficient processes
- Prepare credit applications and vender references
- Setup payments and input invoices for reimbursements and payroll corrections
- Prepare lien waivers for the Accounts Receivable Manager
- Monitor and report on company credit cards
- Order credit cards for field employees
- Prepare tax documentation
- Customize reports for internal use
- Analyze current processes and reports
- Prepare accrual entries for month end
- Prepare allocation entries for month end
- Prepare depreciation & amortization for month end
- Prepare reconciliation functions
- Research and review general ledger for accuracy
- Prepare yearly 1099-NEC forms
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- An associate degree in business or closely related field required. A bachelor's degree with relevant experience preforming professional accounting work preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, writing, and computer skills essential - knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills - time management
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
- Attention to detail and punctuality
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work in groups and adaptable
