Job Description:
- Prepare financial statements and assist with monthly bookkeeping (including journal entries) – eventually manage a staff accountant for these tasks
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
- Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
- Prepare monthly budget to actual reports (variance analysis)
- Recognize and recommend implementation of internal controls and development of efficient processes
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Fully understand Sales & Use Tax implications and execute any payments, exemptions, etc.
- Compile and consolidate data from various sources for monthly and long-term budgets/forecasts for multiple cost centers; forecast income statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, and pro-forma financial metrics
- Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI metrics) with reporting dashboards to provide necessary financial and management reporting information to communicate results, identify key issues, and drive consistency
- Provide analytical support to various business initiatives & strategic decisions, including business development and treasury management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, guidance, and support for business initiatives. An example of this would be building financial models for each project we are looking to install a unit and each waste pile we would look to clean up.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models using Microsoft Excel, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and usability.
- Assist management team with financing activities, including developing company valuation, building financial models, and preparing documents for shareholders and investors.
- Lead and execute the annual financial audits, internal audits, and other reporting functions necessary to prepare the company for a Series B financing.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field with 5 years of accounting or FP&A experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
- Strong knowledge of finance and accounting concepts and principles, particularly pertaining to the remediation and minerals industries
- Ability to perform complex financial modeling and analysis
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Ability to interact with sophisticated investors
