What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monitoring Advocate position at Disability Rights New Mexico?
Disability Rights New Mexico (DRNM), a legal rights center for persons with disabilities, seeks full time Advocate to conduct monitoring visits to mental health facilities and Social Security Representative Payees throughout New Mexico. Responsible for reviewing financial records of SSA beneficiaries and conducting beneficiary interviews. Advocate will also provide advocacy services to promote equal access to voting for persons with disabilities and will conduct systemic outreach and training. Applicants must be able to pass OMB Federal Security Clearance. Whether demonstrated through formal education or lived experience, the candidate must have the skills necessary to perform the job. These positions have been filled by people with bachelor degrees, but DRNM is enthusiastic about considering anyone with the right skills and believes a degree is not necessary for this position. DRNM understands the importance and contribution of candidates with lived experience.
