EXPERIENCED Medical Assistant needed for established pediatric practice. Must have strong organizational skills as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with a wide range of people while remaining professional and friendly, as well as good communication skills. Candidates must be computer literate and possess the following abilities:

  • To prepare patients for evaluation and treatment, take histories and vital signs.
  • As needed, perform complete preventative screening tests (vision, hearing, etc.,) for patients and/or assists all support staff with daily patient encounters.
  • Helps with diagnostic testing, treatments, and referrals.
  • Draws and processes blood, finger sticks, and venous collections; centrifuges, labels, and saves blood samples for later analysis by clinical laboratory staff.
  • Under the supervision of a practitioner, uses a nebulizer to administer prescribed drugs such as inhalation medications and routine vaccines.
  • Aids in the upkeep of quality assurance standards.
  • As needed, keeps track of vaccination, laboratory, and drug inventories, as well as refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
  • Several quality control methods are used to ensure that internal and external regulations are followed.
  • Follows standing order processes as defined by practice.
  • Sets up exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments; prepares and maintains treatment supplies and equipment; cleans up exam rooms at the end of the day.
  • Must be able to prioritize, work independently, set your own goals, be flexible, and work accurately at a high rate of volume.
  • Must be able to make recommendations on how to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a system or workflow.
  • Helps with billing duties such as entering charges and diagnoses and following up with providers on missing information.
  • Experience working with children is a plus.

You will often work with the same child throughout their adolescence (birth through age 22), tracking their growth. Hours are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. Occasionally 8:30am-12:00pm Saturday.
