Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH Technologies is seeking an Associate Software Engineer who will develop and maintain embedded software used in a variety of products including set-top boxes and remote controls for satellite and internet-based whole home audio/video entertainment solutions and other connected devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triaging and resolving software defects that are reported from the field
- Working within a development team using change control and source code management systems
- Developing test plans and writing software unit tests to verify code correctness and test system-level interactions
- Working in a dynamic development environment to deliver reliable software components
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, a degree in another area with a minor in Computer Science, or 2 or more years completed in a Computer Science Bachelor's degree program (Tuition assistance is available if you are pursuing a degree in Computer Science.)
Experience:
- 1-3 years of programming experience and a passion for programming
- Experience working in a Linux environment
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in two or more of the following programming languages: C/C , Java, Python or JavaScript
- An understanding of (and programming experience with) common data structures
- The ability to solve technical problems with little supervision
- Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Git
- An understanding of agile software development
- Experience developing for the Android platform
- Experience working with Android Studio
- Experience with multi-threaded programming
