We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. You will prepare estimates, prepare journal entries for more complex calculations, review reconciliations, design and prepare reports, gain a deep understanding of the systems and applications we use for finance, ensure accuracy of our financial records, oversee audits, and help prepare policies and procedures. When we hire junior accountants, you will also be responsible for training new staff and monitoring their work for accuracy. Our ideal candidate has at least two years of professional accounting experience with a track record for providing accurate and efficient work. ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, navigate software and systems easily and has a strong interest to help automate and enhance current processes.
This is a full-time role; while the company is based in Denver, the role is remote.
What You'll Do
- Manage general ledger, assist month-end/year-end close processes and flux the trial balances
- Help supervise our accounting department and junior employees
- Prepare estimates and journal entries for more complex areas
- Enhance our reconciliation documentation, prepare complex reconciliations and review reconciliations from junior staff
- Gain a strong understanding of our financial systems, applications and put forth enhancement suggestions
- Help design and maintain more effective reporting for accuracy reviews (flux analysis, periodic balance sheet reviews, etc.)
- Assist with audits (i.e. prepare support, lead sheets, PBC list ownership, answer questions, perform walkthroughs)
- Assist in preparing documents and interpreting complicated financial information for managers, executives, and C-Suite executives
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
- 3 years of experience as accountant
- Public accounting experience as auditor with a large public accounting firm preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office – expert level Excel skills
- Strong interest in accounting systems
- Ability to assess processes and suggest meaningful changes that drive accuracy and efficiency
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Possess the ability to think critically and have strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven and multi-tasking environment
- Ability to manage your time and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience collaborating with multiple departments or teams
