Position Function/Purpose
Assist the Librarian in the preparation and management of activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified Librarian.
Major Responsibilities
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the librarian.
- Processing books and instructional media.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day.
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly library.
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Inventory classroom needs on a regular basis.
- Shelve books, magazines and newspaper.
- Responding to needs of VIPS personnel for partners in reading.
- Assist the Librarian in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Other duties as assigned by cluster librarian and or building principals.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED. 30 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
- Ability to work well with children
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Basic typing and computer knowledge
