Company: Nationally Recognized wholesale flooring company with a strong west coast presence
Summary: The Product Merchandiser/Floater is a shared position between the Marketing/Sales Department and Branch Operations. As a Merchandiser the person is responsible for working with our retail team to make sure that our company promoted displays attract attention by ensuring the displays are stocked and up to date with product offering. The product merchandiser also offers customer service to our retail store owners by getting customers the products and information they need, by relaying the information to an appropriate party and resolving potential paperwork issues.
The Branch Floater is responsible for supporting a branch in the absence of any regular employee. As such, the Branch Floater must be able to accomplish branch duties, including counter sales, warehousing, money handling, and balancing a till. The Floater is on-call to travel to any branch in a region on short notice and may be called to a distant branch for an extended period.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Merchandiser
- Order merchandise, audit inventory and build displays while acting as a brand ambassador.
- Collaborate with sales team and management to ensure that company product abides by company standards and prominently displayed.
- Assist customers and sales team in creating an organized display that allows for easier product accessibility.
- Stock displays for customers as sample panels go missing.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Works closely with administrative assistant and sample team to plan, schedule and execute tasks.
- Travel to several businesses each day to assist in product assembly or merchandise resets
- Set up and tear down displays, and maintain various store fixtures to uphold company appearance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Floater
- Participate in day-to-day activities of a branch team, including but not limited to counter and phone sales, receiving and pulling stock, warehousing, showroom maintenance, facilities management, and deliveries
- Develop best-in-class customer service across all customer points of contact
- Maintain accurate stock and limit aged inventory
- Coordinate sales opportunities and support customer needs with outside sales rep
- Review inbound stock transfers for consistency, accuracy, and completeness
- Communicate out of stock, over-stock, and aging inventory issues to the Replenishment team
- Work closely with the Replenishment and Purchasing teams to optimize inventory levels and increase turns while supporting Sales stock directives and annual operating and marketing plans
- Remerchandise inventory as needed and negotiate return-to-vendor to reduce company exposure and write-offs
- Ensure collection and accurate application of cash payments and complete signature collection for credit account purchases
- Complete daily cash sale reports and balance till
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the building and attached yards and lots.
- Review stock shipments for errors, during receipt, and take other necessary actions
- Ensure a positive and productive work environment, working collectively to resolve issues
- Lead branch-based projects when asked
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required (Associate degree preferred)
- 2 years' experience in merchandising or retail
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Minimum 2 years branch experience as Counter/Warehouse, Lead, or Assistant Supervisor/ Manager
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Clear understanding of distribution, warehousing, and transportation methods and best practices
- Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook
