Job Summary
The Cart Washer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of Division Laundry Houston, LLC carts in a given shift. This position works with the other plant staff and departments to keep carts moving from the Sorting and Washing Departments to the Assembling Department.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
A Cart Washer may perform some or all of the following duties during a given shift:
- Push/pull laundry carts weighing approximately 135 pounds
- Remove soil label/paperwork/tape from carts.
- Wash/disinfect soil carts from the washroom
- Stage clean carts for production to use.
- Communicate with Soil room/Washroom Leads.
- Help pull soil linen carts/soil bags from the Soilroom to the Washroom.
- Remove soil plastic bags/trash and place in compactor.
- Open new linen as needed.
- Uphold and promote safe and appropriate chemical management, including using provided personal protective gear at all times
- Sweep/spray down cart area in order to keep work area neat and clean.
- Assist in the Soil/Washroom as needed.
- Demonstrates friendly and respectful behavior in the work environment
- Operate heavy machinery such as trash compactor, forklifts, and scissor lifts
- Assist in any job duty that is needed as assigned or as instructed by Management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Quality orientation and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Strong teamwork skills- ready and willing to work closely with team members
- Open, and able to, work day or night shifts, and willing to rotate shifts depending on production need
- Open to long hours and working weekends (Saturday/Sunday) when necessary
- Pass a background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws.

- Prior experience working in a plant environment
Requirements
Physical Requirements.
- Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking throughout the entire work shift
- Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on work surface
- Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, grasping, and pulling items and work tools such as mops, towels carts, and cleaning products.
- Constant pushing/pulling of wheeled laundry carts of varying weights and sizes
- Repetitive hand movement which includes simple and power grasping, fine manipulation and pushing and pulling items up to 130 pounds on a constant basis.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Required to wear and use personal protective equipment as needed.
- Ability to hear for safety and awareness of surroundings.
- Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.
- Ability to safely operate, activate, and use heavy machinery such as trash compactor
- Ability to complete job duties while wearing protective gear during indoor and outdoor tasks
- Pass a background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws.
Work Environment
Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature (non-air-conditioned work area), noise, humidity, and other hazards. This position also requires the ability to safely operate heavy machinery such as trash compactors, forklifts, scissor lifts and the ability to complete job duties while wearing protective gear during indoor and outdoor tasks.
