We are a busy book-composition company located in the heart of Cicero NY, near Lake Oneida. Our clients are primarily in the book-publishing field. We have been servicing many of the country’s major book publishers for almost 100 years. We are looking for two part-time (to evolve into full-time) book lovers with at least 6 months of desktop publishing and pagination experience. We offer medical / dental insurance, paid time off, and 401K match.

As a desktop publisher/ paginator, you will be responsible for digitally laying out the various pages of a book or other media project. You will digitally assemble all the content for each project and lay it out according to templates, specifications, and pagination guidelines. The result will be a final product where each page includes specific pre-designed content.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Book-pagination and typesetting experience a plus.
  • Tagging Word files, running Macros, and flowing manuscripts into design-file templates
  • Understanding how to create and apply style sheets and master pages
  • High comfort level with InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Quark, Suitcase, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office
  • You should be Mac-friendly, as we are a totally Mac-based shop
  • Accurate, speedy typing skills for inputting type corrections or re-keying text inserts
  • A book-lover! You'll be working with designers and editors from major publishers producing bestsellers in many genres.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
