Job Summary
DJ&A is seeking a full-time Bridge Inspector with 4 years of relevant experience. A part-time or seasonal candidate may be considered (benefits provided will be based on part-time or seasonal status eligibility). A candidate meeting current Federal requirements for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader is desired. The candidate must be a problem solver, capable of effective communication, and possess analytical and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be an industry professional that has applicable bridge inspection and inspection reporting experience. Must be a motivated self-starter who embraces the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in the western U.S. Must be team oriented and possess a desire to learn and grow with the company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform bridge inspections in various locations across the U.S., some in remote locations with varying terrain and conditions.
- Conduct National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) inspections and write field inspection reports.
- Assist in planning inspection activities and provide supervision of the inspection efforts.
- Coordinate with project managers to establish inspection contract scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, quality and agency requirements, specifications and standards are achieved.
- Interface with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Possible additional duties for the position could include construction inspection/observation. Candidates should indicate if they are interested in or have experience in that area.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- NBIS Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Prior experience in writing bridge inspection reports.
- Independent, self-motivated, results-oriented, and dynamic.
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with geographically dispersed teams.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of an FHWA approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course (minimum).
- Project experience with federal agencies (FHWA, NPS, USFS, NRCS, etc.) and state DOT’s is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to work at heights with certifications in fall protection preferred.
- Must be able to travel extensively to various (and sometimes remote) project sites.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
- Must be capable of the physical activity involved in inspecting bridges in remote locations, including climbing steep slopes and wading through streams and rivers. [CT8] [DP9]
