DLA is hiring a CFO to join our Operations team in Fairfield, NJ. The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) oversees and directs all financial functions of the Firm, providing strategic leadership and guidance to ensure the organization's financial health and compliance. The CFO manages treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, and accounting activities, playing a critical role in driving financial performance and operational efficiency. The CFO will be instrumental in M&A due diligence and acquired entity integration into DLA as it relates to financial systems and financial reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • In tandem with the Vice President of Finance, prepare timely financial reporting to all stakeholders, including the Advisory Board and the Board of Managers, providing insights into the company's financial performance and strategic direction
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the executive team and partners
  • Negotiate new credit facilities or modifications to the existing credit facility with financial institutions
  • Direct treasury management functions, including primary contact with the bank, line of credit management, and cashflow planning
  • Lead forecasting and budget preparation processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets
  • Review and evaluate internal controls, processes, and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial accounting in accordance with GAAP, including proper accrual basis accounting
  • Perform tax planning and oversee tax compliance, including reviewing Federal and state tax returns and ensuring appropriate apportionments to states and allocations to partners
  • Review month-end closings, develop and enhance management reporting, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Conduct expense analysis, propose cost reduction strategies, and oversee semi-monthly billing cycles and payroll processes
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for the company's use of financial systems, ensuring optimal utilization and functionality
  • Support the Vice President of Finance in the supervision and guidance of the finance team; provide performance feedback, and promote team behaviors consistent with the company culture
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory authorities, as necessary, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
  • Assist in the preparation annually of the Strategic Plan
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses, KPI reporting and support other tasks as requested by the CEO, President, and Partners
  • Act in the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and client service while representing the company

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
  • Experience leading an accounting and finance function in a professional services or consulting firm
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulations, with a track record of success in financial leadership roles
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP a plus
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as present to executives and board members
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering measurable business impact through financial leadership and collaborative decision making.
  • Strong leadership presence, with the ability to inspire confidence, instill trust, and lead by example in all interactions
  • Proven track record of overseeing integrations of newly acquired businesses from a financial reporting and systems perspective
