Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally, and globally.
The Paralegal Team itself includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals and Paralegal Specialists. Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
- Experience as a paralegal in a legal department or law firm
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with legal software such as Relativity, LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar technology
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in a large law firm or professional services organization
What will your day look like?
Your responsibilities will include assisting attorneys with preparing necessary documents for witness interviews, depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitration. You will also be responsible for locating and reviewing information applicable to a particular case, person, or subject through online research or document reviews.
You will manage large volumes of documents and work with each case and transaction, review, organize and maintain document databases for discovery, document production and attorney review, and assist attorneys in preparation of pleadings/motions and the coordination of service of process.
