DLH is growing and currently seeking an Epidemiologist to join our multi-disciplinary team that conducts research on behalf of NIH and other federal clients. We currently support numerous large-scale research studies in support of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), including the Environmental Polymorphisms Registry (EPR); the Sister Study; the Gulf Long-term Follow-up Study (GuLF); the Study of Environment, Lifestyle, & Fibroids (SELF); and the Agricultural Health Study (AHS). In support of the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), we also lead the development of landmark research compendia and associated manuscripts on major metabolic, digestive, renal, and urologic diseases. You will be part of a collegial team that includes other epidemiologists, statisticians, statistical programmers, data managers, and operations staff. Epidemiologists play a critical role in study design and implementation, analysis, and manuscript development. These positions offer many opportunities for leadership, professional development, innovation, collaboration across disciplines, and publication.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients on matters related to the design, implementation, and management of epidemiologic and clinical research studies.
- Plan and conduct standard and advanced epidemiologic and statistical analyses with minimal guidance.
- Oversee data collection and analysis efforts.
- Prepare oral and written scientific communications, including scientific presentations, manuscripts, technical reports, study protocols, and proposals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field and a min of 2 years of experience. Candidates must be able to independently plan and conduct statistical analyses.
- Experience in the design and execution of epidemiologic research, including advanced statistical analysis, and in publishing research results.
- Strong career appropriate record of peer reviewed publications.
- Proficiency in SAS, R, or similar statistical programming language.
- Excellent oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to work well in team environment and independently.
- Able to learn new methodologic approaches, software languages, or other skills as needed.
- Other highly desired, but not required, skillsets: analysis of administrative claims and electronic medical record data; genetic epidemiology or other “omics” analysis experience; GIS and other geospatial data analysis; demonstrated success across a range of substantive or methodologic areas; interest in project or team management; experience working as a government contractor.
The position may be remote or office-based in Durham, NC or Silver Spring, MD, as long as the candidate is able to maintain approximate normal business hours (EST). Basic Compensation: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00
The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards that may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
