Summary:
As the Director of Engineering, you will lead and direct the global engineering functions of the Extruded Products Division. You will be responsible for directing product, applications engineers, and chemists to support new and existing product designs, ensuring that a manufacturable product can be produced that meets customer design requirements and specifications. You will also ensure that customer materials approvals are obtained and that design and validation testing meets or exceeds all requirements in time to support budgeted revenue. Finally, you will professionally manage all department personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Properly manage Extruded Products products and applications Engineers and Chemists globally to meet all stakeholder requirements.
- Lead product development to successfully meet the five-year budgeted revenue plan. Led group to obtain customer material approvals and successfully pass all validation testing requirements in time to ultimately support on-time PPAP submissions.
- Maintain and review project tracking with Extrusion Leadership.
- Ensure existing and new products meet customer material and design specifications and requirements to eliminate field product reliability issues.
- Ensure new and revised products are manufacturable to the lowest cost possible, can meet all specifications and requirements, and program timing can be met without incurring additional, non-standard costs.
Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of ten years in Automotive Engineering roles, including a minimum of five years at a Manager/Director level.
- Master's in Engineering or MBA strongly preferred.
- Rubber chemistry background required. Rubber and plastic hose experience is strongly preferred.
- Successful candidates should have a thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals, rubber chemistry, extrusion, hose design principles, product and production processes, Automotive OEM procedures, quality assurance techniques, and tools such as statistical process control, 8-D problem-solving techniques, product testing, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of Lean principles and organizational procedures.
