- Establish and enhance assembly, fabrication, and cutting methods by developing best practices, evaluating, and refining processes. Include training for employees on these methodologies.
- Create weld and assembly jigs and fixtures.
- Handle the development and updates of a multi-level bill of materials, ensuring any changes are communicated via the Manufacturing Change Order Process.
- Conduct time studies to identify areas for continuous improvement.
- Plan schedules for the assembly, fabrication, and cutting departments to optimize production.
- Lead improvement events, such as Kaizen, across different manufacturing sectors.
- Calculate estimated production times, staffing needs, and associated costs to aid management in decision-making. Also, undertake project costing research and development.
- Assist the estimating department with their daily queries.
- Prepare and justify capital expenditure requests.
- Participate in meetings for Engineering Order processes and aid in their execution through the Manufacturing Change Order Process.
- Revise or create work instructions for manufacturing processes related to both new and existing products. This includes optimizing labor, space, and workflow, and designing equipment layouts for peak efficiency.
- Discuss product design and tooling with planning and design teams to ensure production methods are efficient.
- Engage with vendors to specify products, arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and ensure that products meet specifications and quality standards. Also, manage production supply needs.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and other departments to discuss manufacturing capabilities, production timelines, and other factors that influence production.
- Support the Production Manager and supervisors in achieving the company's objectives.
- Use statistical analysis to predict future manufacturing needs and potentials.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering
- Five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess the skills to understand and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and technical drawings.
- Should have the capability to comprehend safety protocols, operational guidelines, and maintenance instructions, alongside the ability to draft standard reports and effectively communicate with groups of clients or company employees.
- Requires proficiency in basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various units of measurement. Should also be capable of calculating rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphical data.
- Should have a practical understanding to execute instructions provided in multiple formats (written, verbal, or diagrams) and solve problems within a defined scope.
- Needs to build trust with manufacturing staff to support and understand their daily needs effectively.
- Basic proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office is necessary, along with drafting abilities, preferably in computer-aided design (CAD).
- Demonstrated mechanical skills, with a background in electrical and mechanical systems, assembly procedures, and the use of hand tools is essential.
