Job Description:

The project manager will be responsible for all phases of a project, including schedule and financial performance, as well as customer satisfaction. The project manager will provide leadership to cross-functional project teams in a manner that cultivates early decision making at the lowest level possible to effectively minimize risk for the company. They will also act as the primary liaison for all activities between the company and its customer.

Formal Policy Setting Responsibilities:

The project manager will be responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities.

Routine Decision Making/Problem Solving:

The project manager will make daily decisions about cost vs. risk/liability on project-related issues or opportunities. They will also make daily decisions about internal and external priorities and scheduling to maximize customer satisfaction and company profits. Additionally, they will determine and negotiate customer contract change orders, as well as determine and negotiate back charge settlements with customer's field erection contractors.

Essential Responsibilities:

The project manager will handle all customer-related activities, both technical and commercial. They will develop and maintain positive customer relationships both personally and for the organization as a whole. They will also ensure timely software submittals and equipment deliveries through management of the internal cross-functional project team. Additionally, they will balance the overall project budget and cost control, communicate financial status and projections to executive management, and actively work to develop team managers, especially those in new positions, to enhance both team effectiveness and the general effectiveness of teams at the company.

The project manager will work with various groups within the company to establish the initial project schedule and provide feedback to the Project Scheduling group for improving the scheduling process and its effectiveness. They will handle the initiation of document transmittals to the customer and process customer comments to the company-submitted documents, including the change management process. They will also assist with evaluating subcontract proposals and selecting manufacturers in support of project objectives, as well as support Sales in proposal efforts with contract reviews and customer clarification/pre-award meetings.

Qualifications:

Education: A four-year college degree in Engineering or an MBA with relevant management experience.

Experience: 8-10 years of experience; prior Project Manager experience is required.

Travel: The project manager will need to travel 10-15% of the time by plane or car and be available to respond to customer/jobsite issues at all times. This will include travel both internationally and domestically.

Required Knowledge:

The project manager must have a detailed knowledge of HRSG design, fabrication, and erection, as well as internal processes and workflows. They must also have a full understanding of project scheduling tools and management techniques, as well as an understanding of contract legalese, contract management methods, and contract flow-down requirements.

Required Skills or Abilities:

The project manager must have demonstrated skills in building customer and supplier relations and managing contracts. They must be able to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively, and respond effectively on an expedited basis to unusual and varied situations not covered by existing standards and procedures. Additionally, they must have excellent communication skills, high verbal reasoning skills, and critical thinking ability, be people-oriented and motivated for results, and display confidence and poise in all situations without jumping to conclusions without proper basis.
