DNV - Energy Systems' Renewables & Power Grids group is seeking a talented Business Analyst within our Products and Data (P&D) team to accelerate and grow our culture of digitalization, innovation, and customer focus. In this role, you'll define Agile business requirements in the form of user stories and acceptance criteria, configure IT solutions, train users, and develop processes that scale. You'll also work with agile software teams and engage directly with top experts leading the energy transition to understand areas of opportunity, develop cohesive products with internal and external partners, and delight our customers with unsurpassed results and solutions. You will serve as a trusted technical voice throughout the software development lifecycle as we develop digital solutions and features that drive engagement and inspire our users. This is a high-profile role where your contributions will have a direct impact across multiple service areas within our company as we support the energy transition and accelerate the deployment of renewables worldwide.

They will be as comfortable digging into the details of a problem as they are with presenting their findings and recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders. This person will seek and appreciate multiple perspectives and will regularly interact with a broad range of users to uncover the common threads that connect their needs.
Ideally this position will be based out of our San Diego, CA (USA), Oakland, CA (USA), Montreal, QB (Canada), or Toronto, ON (Canada) office. However, other remote locations may also be considered.
What You'll Do
- Support the product team in understanding business needs for software, identifying the best solutions for meeting the needs, estimating impact value, and documenting software requirements
- Identify core business needs, break down and document operations into user stories, document business rules, and construct workflow diagrams, as needed
- Interview business stakeholders to gather detailed product requirements (scope, background, business case, etc.)
- Condense complex business processes into clear and actionable user stories with acceptance criteria
- Assist Product Owner with sprint grooming, user story development, and prioritization
- Participate in and facilitate Agile events and other agile activities
- Support the product and development teams by gathering critical details, answering business questions, and coordinating collaboration with business stakeholders to facilitate decisions
- Support the Product and Data team with creating data visualizations and reports to enable users to grasp concepts, identify patterns, track KPIs, and make better business decisions
What is Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- 3 years of experience as a business analyst within an agile software team
- Experience working with Agile methodology, including defining requirements, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and testing solutions
- Supportive and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment and inspire others, as well as work on self-directed independent projects
- An exceptional drive, a learning mindset, a bias toward action, and unwavering integrity
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including communicating complex technical issues to a non-technical audience through presentations and emails
- Fluent in MS Office products and experienced with roadmap software (we use Aha!), Azure DevOps / JIRA, and data visualization tools
- Able to understand and synthesize complex processes into concise solutions
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to one week per quarter
- Pre-employment drug and background screening
What is Preferred
- Renewable energy or related industry experience
Experience developing, working with, and integrating APIs or microservices - Experience analyzing both structured and unstructured data
- Experience developing prototypes and running experiments

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, California, Washington, and New York only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75,000-$110,000
