What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Academic Advising position at Doane University?

Doane University with campuses in Crete, Lincoln, and Omaha is looking for a collaborative leader to serve as Director of Academic Advising. In this newly created position, primarily located on the Lincoln campus, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Student Experience division on retention efforts as well as the Student Success Hub, and the Navigator Team.

This role includes academic advising, serving as the designated school official for international students on the Lincoln campus, supervising staff, supporting faculty advisors, developing and implementing training for faculty and staff, and implementing data-driven advising practices. The position requires a flexible schedule that allows for day and evening and some weekend expectations.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Required for Success:

  • Experience in higher education with advising and/or retention
  • Supervision of full-time staff
  • Development of policies, processes, and training
  • Ability to understand and analyze data
  • Highly collaborative with demonstrated team-building skills

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience supporting faculty with advising or experience in an equally collaborative role with faculty.

Education/Training:

  • Master's degree required; will consider anticipated 2022 completion date of master's degree.
