The Snowsports School Manager is responsible for overseeing clinics, training, and risk management. Other responsibilities include assigning instructors appropriately to classes, organizing students into class levels, and supervising lesson quality. It is important that this position is a visible staff member on the mountain in order to provide constant coaching and interaction with instructors and students to ensure lesson product standards are met. This is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests in a courteous manner, and being able to answer questions professionally.- Assists with hiring, motivating, evaluating and directing staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established departmental goals and objectives. Ensures that all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary.
- Supports Director to schedule adequate staff to meet both the changing ski/snowboard lesson demands and budget guidelines.
- Assists Director to maintain a detailed, organized and accurate scheduling tool. Monitor and ensure staff schedule accountability.
- Schedule instructors to daily lesson assignments and complete required daily documentation neatly and accurately.
- Supervise and observe the teaching and learning progress of classes and make corrections as necessary in an appropriate manner being aware of both guest and staff perspectives.
- Continually monitor class sizes and splits. Make decisions that help promote profitability, safety and quality in lessons and support instructors’ success
Clinic instructors as directed by the Snowsport Director following the departmental policies and procedures.- Set a good example for instructors by improving your own riding, teaching, clinician, organizational, and management skills.
- Manage and be leaders in the department risk management program.
- Assist Director with the development, of departmental trainings; including accurate and updated documentation of training.
- Work with snow removal teams on snowy mornings.
- Help with set-up and tear-down of daily lesson equipment.
It is important to understand that the position of Snowsports School Manager does involve a considerable amount of skiing/riding. However, there is a distinction that needs to be made between free skiing/riding and working on skis/boards.
Job Qualifications
Advanced ski / snowboarding ability required- Level II or Level III certified member of PSIA/AASI
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Willingness to continually learn and update knowledge of skiing/snowboarding and instruction through attending both ski/snowboard school and PSIA/AASI functions.
- Well educated in the American Teaching System and the Dodge Ridge Snowsports School Progressions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Understanding of technical knowledge and methodology required explaining the fundamentals of skiing and snowboarding.
- Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
- Neatly groomed and ski/snowboard equipment in good condition, leading to a professional over-all appearance.
- Knowledgeable of equipment needs and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.
- Safety and risk oriented.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions.
- Good physical conditioning, including flexibility, strength and endurance.
- Heavy and awkward lifting up to 50lbs
- Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

Work Schedules
Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.
You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy road surfaces.
It is imperative that all coordinators arrive to work on time. Holidays and special events may require longer hours.
Working Conditions
At any time during the ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects.
Uniforms
A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.

- Ski / snowboard equipment and ski bindings that pass a binding function test (you should be aware you are responsible for any damage to your equipment while at work.
