ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures
- Advise the company administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects
- Utilize a formal hazard analysis process to identify safety related issues and risks
- Develop, maintain and conduct safety education training within the plant environment and work sites to support overall business goals to reduce injuries, accidents and incidents
- Establish and champion policies which will create and maintain a safe workplace
- Provide safety leadership and direction to all departments
- Visit active project sites to assess site conditions and to ensure compliance
- Work with project management teams and field workers to develop and implement solutions to safety related issues on project sites
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle workers compensation
- Maintains inventory of required safety PPE and other job site equipment required to maintain a safe and compliant worksite
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with governmental regulated guidelines
- Analyze incident reports/metrics and injuries to institute changes for a safer environment
- Ensure compliance with all DOT rules/regulations not limited to testing and maintenance of records. Review all drive logs and ensure drive logs are completed
- Ensure all drivers are properly training in safety, accident prevention with DOT compliance with OSHA and FMCSR
- Maintain safety training certifications including OSHA 300 logs, First Report of Injuries and Investigations
- Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of safety experience in construction implementation and coordination of safety
- Site-level experience with construction crews, preferred
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, preferred
- Certified Safety Professional
- 5 years of safety leadership at a plant and corporate level, preferred
- Experience with regulatory compliance, DOT regulation and managing driver safety
- In depth knowledge of OSHA standards and reporting requirements
- Effective communication and organizational skills with great attention to detail
- OSHA 10/30 trainer, or the ability to obtain certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Take initiative and be self-motivated, always looking for opportunities to improve
