delivers innovative engineering solutions for local, state, and federally funded projects. Our core focus is transportation: roadways, highways
and interchanges, bridges, bicycle and pedestrian paths, dams, and other public works facilities.

As an Assistant Civil Engineer, you will be working under the direction of our Associate and Senior Engineers, providing a variety of professional
civil engineering tasks, in the office and in the field. You will be performing engineering work and exercising independent judgment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine alignment and grade of highways, roadways, and other transportation facilities
  • Analyze data and balance earthwork and embankment needs
  • Survey for and determine location of transportation facilities
  • Conduct hydraulic/hydrologic analyses and determine design for culverts
  • Determine right of way needs
  • Prepare plans and cost estimates for construction or maintenance of transportation facilities
  • Inspect construction of such facilities and judge whether they meet specifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineer in Training Certification; or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • CA driver’s license

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess technical knowledge of pertinent rules, standards, and regulations as it relates to roadway design and construction standards
in the State of California
  • Gather, compile, analyze and evaluate a variety of technical reports and make sound decisions and recommendations
  • Read and interpret technical information from plats and construction plans
  • Prepare clear and concise written technical correspondence with clients, property owners, and State/local and resource agencies
  • Operate computer using engineering design software, word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling applications

Preferred Traits/Abilities:

  • 2-3 years of experience in roadway design and engineering is preferred
  • A self-starter, with ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Great organization skills, detail-oriented and superior follow-up skills
  • Positive attitude with willingness to assist others
  • Excellent communication skills and friendly demeanor
  • Work independently and as a member of a project team
