Manage and direct payroll processing activities, including compliance requirements associated with termination pay, sick pay, vacation pay out states, daily hours, premium pay, penalty pay, and all payment requirements for retail stores, distribution centers, private fleet, and semi-monthly employees including all other special state specific rules. Maintain appropriate timelines and controls for applicable processing of expense payments, relocation, and monthly, quarterly, and annual bonus payments, including completion of year-end timeline activities for accurate and timely W2 processing. Review, audit, and communicate updates related to output from test payrolls to ensure successful implementation for new initiatives. Maintain logsheets and procedures including communication with management and IT teams for necessary updates to automated workflows and manual processes to ensure correct placement for new programs and initiatives.
Job Details
- Manage day to day staff responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely payrollcalculations, employee payments, voluntary and involuntary deductions and taxwith holding, payroll balancing, and GL posting, including ACH returns, CONCUR expense payments, per diems, bonus program payments, and relocation payments. Accomplish daily activities and handle escalated issues regarding employee payments with Regional and District Managers, legal, and Employee Relations Team as required. 40%
- Provide direction, guidance, coaching, compensation recommendations and conduct performance evaluations for staff. Cultivate and coordinate necessary employee training and statistical reporting to enhance employee performance. Provide comprehensive knowledge and understanding for processing of each payroll logsheet while performing cross training exercises with team to ensure proficient backups are maintained for all payroll processing activities. 25%
- Evaluate best practices and staffing needs to determine short and long term goals to reduce company expense and implement process improvements. Communicate findings with management on a regular basis. 15% Support paystub posting and paycard administration including enrollments and funding, research employee address discrepancies and communicate finding with vendors, maintain stock and equity payments and adjustments ensuring accurate and timely processing into applicable payroll systems. . 10%
- Maintain detailed payroll system processes and procedures, log sheet updates, while working with management team and Financial Systems Support to determine correct placement for new programs and system updates including software and application test reviews and consultation for upgrades and overall system administration. Assists in the testing and completion of required updates to legacy payroll systems to ensuresuccessful implementation and desired results.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associates degree in business or related field, plus 3 – 5 years of multi-state payroll processing and management experience required. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
