General Summary:
Designs retail sales floor layouts for all new and remodel stores to be in compliance with all company objectives. This includes both typical and atypical building designs. This position plays a key role in influencing the visual impression and customer experience as it relates to layout, fixtures, and merchandise in a manner that best conveys the Dollar General brand in every location.
Job Details
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and execute new store layouts (both typical and atypical) and distribute finished work to proper personnel in support of merchandising and store initiatives.
- Re-draw/update layouts based on changes in new planogram and merchandise direction, building dimensions, new company initiatives.
- Research and design options for improving overall traffic flow throughout store to ensure greater customer experience will allowing high visibility and maneuverability for the staff to better control day to day operations
- Assist Construction, New Store Development, Store Services, vendors, and other business partners in the clarification and resolution of questions and issues pertaining to store layouts.
- Assist with departmental projects are directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites:
- Thorough knowledge of store layout design principles and techniques
- Understanding of retail merchandising and how it relates to store layout and design principles
- Technical knowledge of AutoCAD software, systems, equipment
- Strong computer skills with understanding in AutoCAD
- Strong organizational and time management skills (understanding of CAD Standards)
- Strong written and oral communication skills (especially creative clarification) to effectively and efficiently communicate direction, concepts, ideas and expectations
- Team-oriented approach and focus on customer service
Qualifications
Work Experience &/or Education:
- Minimum of two years in a Visual Planning role in a retail environment, and two years of CAD experience.
- Knowledge and skills through degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design, and/or architecture, complimented by hand-on experience. AA, BA or BS is preferred; however knowledge and skills may also be attained through experience and technical training.
