Job Summary
Our Peninsula-Hampton District Office has multiple Electric Line Worker vacancies.
Responsibilities will include a full range of line construction and maintenance work on the electrical distribution systems.
This position will involve working with both energized and de-energized electrical systems while troubleshooting, constructing, and repairing overhead and underground electrical lines.
This position requires a valid CDL and overtime availability will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following :
- Climb poles and towers
- Work aloft with and lift tools and material up to 60 lbs
- Drive and / or operate vehicles for long distances
- Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates
- Work in adverse environments such as swamps, wetlands, coastal sounds, lakes, rivers and mountains
- Must be available for overtime including extended workdays and holidays
- Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies
- The successful candidates will be required to complete a Line Worker Skills Assessment
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in the electric distribution field working as a Lineman; Must presently be a qualified Distribution Journeyman Lineman
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. is required
- The ability to work off a ladder is required
- Obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's Learners permit within your first 30 days and your CDL Class A License (CDL) by the end of your 6th month of employment
- Forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, etc
- Ability to climb poles and towers
- Prefer a graduate of a recognized Lineman Training Program
- Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

This job requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electric Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout administered online.
The assessment is untimed, but usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.
