Dominion Youth Services is currently seeking several Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work flexible schedules, which may include evenings and weekends, in and around Richmond, VA. Our DSPs will work with individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to support and foster the ability of individuals to acquire, retain, or improve skills necessary to build positive social behavior, interpersonal competence, independence, employability and personal choice necessary to access typical activities such as those chosen by the general population. Provides a wide variety of opportunities to facilitate and build relationships and natural supports in the community, while utilizing the community as a learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide support to individuals during activities and events in the community, such as: volunteering, access to services, etc., according to their plan for support and personal choice of the individuals.

Assist in the identification, documentation and assessment of individuals’ support needs.

Ability to independently coordinate complex scheduling and activities planning

Ensure the care and well-being of individuals to include general safety and promote opportunities and options which will enhance their quality of life.

Implement individualized programs and strategies in accordance with the individual service plans.

Maintain effective communication and positive relationships with relevant stakeholders.

Utilize personal vehicle throughout service time, to provide transportation for individuals

Document individual activities and daily progress toward service plan goals.

Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Perform other assigned duties consistent with established policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation,
-
1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting
-
Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
TRAVEL/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Travel will be required. The employee will be expected to utilize their own personal vehicle to transport up to three individuals to appointments, community engagement activities, and other activities in the community throughout the day. The employee is expected to have a reliable and safe means of transportation.
