Job Title: Marketing and Events Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Communications
Hours: Part Time, Non-exempt
Salary: $14-16/hour (20-30 hours a week)
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Discovery Center Collective is in an exciting time of growth and momentum in our community. The Part-Time Marketing and Event Coordinator will contribute to this momentum and support our marketing efforts and event planning, helping to enhance our visibility and interaction with the community. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a knack for innovative, fun approaches to their work. They should be eager to assist in creating engaging experiences that align with our educational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Events
- Assist in the planning and execution of community, educational, and fundraising events.
- Work with a highly collaborative team to ideate new events.
- Work with vendors to ensure successful event experience and performance.
- Coordinate event logistics, including setup, execution, and breakdown.
- Engage with community members and participants during events to gather feedback and promote our initiatives.
- Complete administrative tasks associated with event planning, including budget management, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Coordinate community engagement initiatives to strengthen relationships with local organizations and the public.
- Work with custodial staff and animal team to ensure a clean and welcoming environment on event days.
- Enter event attendance into the attendance tracking system.
- Collect feedback from each event to provide year-to-year comparisons to leadership and improve planning and event processes.
Marketing
- Support the marketing team in various campaigns, focusing on enhancing event attendance and engagement.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to marketing success.
- Facilitate communication between departments to ensure the success and coherence of marketing campaigns.
- Assist with graphic design and social media engagement.
- Monitor and review social performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and support strategic adjustments.
- Secure photographs and videos of events and exhibits to assist with marketing materials.
- Contribute to public relations endeavors such as press releases, news appearances, networking, and social media messaging.
Qualifications
- Experience or degree in a related field.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative thinker with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Canva, Google Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
