Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced full-time translator for its Japanese-language edition, JWSJ.
You will be part of a team that offers not only WSJ's unique perspective, but also sophisticated Japanese translation for a discerning audience. In addition to its own website, JWSJ stories also appear on platforms of media partners, including some of Japan's largest media outlets.
You will:
- Translate stories on a range of topics including business and finance as well as international affairs into refined Japanese.
- Occasionally edit translation copy of colleagues.
- Be a team player.
You have:
- Excellent English and Japanese language skills.
- Strong news judgment and knowledge of finance and business, as well as an interest in international affairs.
- At least several years of experience translating English-language news stories into Japanese.
- Knowledge of digital and social media skills and an open mind to new technology including machine translation.
