About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity within the Product Stewardship organization for a Global Regulatory Strategic Business Consultant. This role will serve as a global focal point for the CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ product line for the business and product stewardship team supporting the pharmaceutical regulatory space. This person will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Owner of the US and Canadian Drug Master Files and will act as a business consultant for the following activities:
- Assess opportunities and provide strategic advice to the business
- Develop and lead global advocacy efforts
- Lead internal and external issues management activities
- Influentially lead the global product stewardship team and partner with functional support to ensure regulatory compliance and assess and implement periodic training to relevant functions
- Assess and provide input regarding resource requirements for global regulatory activities and projects
- Assess and provide input with prioritization of these activities and projects
- Coach and mentor others on Pharma Compliance, EH&S and Product Stewardship
- Lead and manage regulatory submittals and reporting requirements (examples, US and Canadian Drug Master Files, EU CEP, etc.)
- Review, assess and identify impact of global pharmaceutical regulations and guidance documents (current, new, and proposed)
- Lead and/or provide subject matter expertise for risk assessments following the IPEC Significant Change Guide or similar Risk Assessment guidance documents
- Ensure accuracy of product safety documents such as Safety Data Sheets, labels, Excipient Information Package (EIP), Site Master File, and Regulatory Data Sheets
- In partnership with Product Regulatory Services, engage regulatory officials on products of interest and advocate for improvements to rules, requirements, management systems, data requests, etc.
- Define supported end-use applications based upon the existing risk assessment data or potential liability
- Obtain typical exposure data from value chain partners and utilize this information in product exposure assessments
- Expert level of product stewardship knowledge leverageable beyond the region/work group the individual directly supports. Effectively influences customers and clients to partner on EH&S projects (direct interaction)
- Initiate and conduct high risk, complicated, cross-business, and/or recurrent Business Risk Reviews (BRRs)
- Globally coordinate Product and Process Design and Improvement projects that require Product Stewardship expertise
- Design and deliver product stewardship, safe handling, and regulatory training for key internal and external stakeholders (e.g. customers, regional leadership team)
- Influence business/corporate sustainability goals by engaging with sustainability teams
- Identify and interpret public priority issues impacting product and lead the development and implementation of an effective issue management strategy that includes engaging Government Affairs/Public Policy leaders as needed for guidance and direction
- Effectively engage with external agencies related to product compliance
- Strong demonstration of independence, initiative and drive to lead critical projects
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to lead and work cross-functionally and cross-regionally in a team-oriented project environment
- Strong product and market knowledge
- Thorough understanding and expertise related to pharmaceutical regulations and compliance
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking
- The position may require regular travel for business team meetings and trade/industry association meetings. Up to 10% required
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical compliance from a product stewardship, regulatory or quality perspective
- Experience with or direct knowledge of the US FDA, Health Canada, EU EDQM, ICH, IPEC and/or other pharmaceutical and Drug Master File regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- For U.S. Applicants: A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in industry associations leading/participating in regulatory panels/task forces related to emerging regulations/initiatives is strongly
- Strong product/regulatory/market knowledge
- Experience interacting with customers and/or regulators
- Degree disciplines in Chemistry, Engineering, Toxicology, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, or a Specialized EH&S Discipline
