Summary

This is a full time position managing a one or two person survey crew, doing boundary, control, ALTA and topographic design surveys, and construction staking. We are looking to hire for both our Lake Oswego and Bend, OR offices!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform control, Cadastral/boundary, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
  • Work independently or as part of a two-person survey crew.
  • Represent the company in a positive way.
  • Take responsibility for maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Utilize appropriate instrumentation and equipment to perform the work.
  • Take responsibility for safe work practices for your crew.
  • Maintain quality control and keep the work on schedule and within budget.
  • Prepare daily time cards and download field notes and Data Files.
  • Travel up to several weeks at a time to complete survey assignments when needed.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of three years’ experience as a Crew/Party Chief or five years of experience as a Crew Surveyor. Experience with control, cadastral/boundary topographic surveys, and construction staking is required. Baccalaureate degree in geomatics, surveying, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution preferred but not required.

Equipment and Software

At least three years’ experience operating GPS equipment, total station instruments, and data collectors required.

  • Experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations and Trimble GPS Equipment is preferred, but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Land Surveying exam is preferred, but not required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as geometry and trigonometry.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with survey instruments including GPS, total stations, levels, handheld calculators, and computer applications including email, word processing, spread sheets and survey coordinate geometry software.
  • Ability to take accurate, complete and legible field notes as well as project photos.
  • Ability to recognize survey boundary law issues and report issues and results effectively with supervisor for review and approval.

Physical Demands. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Ability to cut brush using chain saw or machete; ability to dig with shovel or digging bars; use of jack hammer and sledge hammer to drive in stakes and rebar (monuments). Ability to walk and hike through rough terrain, snow, and ice. Ability to routinely lift between 30 & 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 80 pounds. Frequently required to bend, squat, and/or kneel, and to be on hands and knees. May need to work at remote sites.

The majority of work under this position is performed outdoors during year round weather conditions. Work ranges from high density urban to extremely remote settings. Individuals must be prepared to adapt quickly from one extreme to the other.

Salary : $67,300 - $85,200
