Summary
This is a regular position to provide research, analysis, writing, public involvement assistance, and associated planning services primarily for road and surface transportation projects, but sometimes also support for airports, regional transportation plans and community planning, traffic engineering and transportation design projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Conduct research, data collection, and prepare documents associated with master plans, layout plans, and regional transportation plans, environmental assessments and analysis, and support for other transportation design projects.
- Coordinate with government agencies, clients, subcontractors, staff, and other professionals to obtain project information.
- Prepare for and assist with the conduct of project public meetings.
- Write and edit sections of project reports and other project documents and prepare associated graphics.
- Assist with airport and transportation marketing.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets.
- Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Baccalaureate degree and at least two years of college-level course work in transportation planning, traffic engineering, transportation engineering, environmental sciences, community/land use planning, or a closely-related program.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to clients, co-workers, and the public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook software. CADD skills are helpful but not required.
