Position: Heavy Equipment Foreman
Department: Civil/Reclamation
Reports to: Manager


Overall Responsibility: The Foreman will be working with and managing a 3-5 person crew performing a variety of earthmoving and grading tasks. Foreman will be directing and helping heavy equipment operators run excavators, backhoes, skid steers, dozers or motor graders, as well as support equipment such as water trucks and roller compactors.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Create daily activity plans to execute our client’s grading requirements. 
  • Provide clear instruction for operators regarding methods and daily goals needed to effectively accomplish the planned project outcomes.
  • Oversee and coordinate client communication around assignments, daily activity recording, and creation of invoices.
  • Operate equipment as needed to support the crew and project
  • Provide consistent and effective training for all operators to grow their skills and operational effectiveness
  • Manage the timesheets and attendance of the crews under your care.
  • Ensure best practices are followed to create a safe worksite with zero accidents, damage, or injury.
  • Required to use PPE and follow DTEC’s safety policies and procedures.
  •  Contributes to maintenance of all  equipment (applying grease, tightening bolts, checking fluid levels, and reporting any observed deficiencies).
  •  Ensuring production is as efficient as possible while minimizing downtime.
  •  Proactively identify and avoid potential hazards.
  •  Meticulously maintain the appearance of equipment and job sites.
  •  Always conduct themselves in a professional manner.

  •  Able to lift up to 50 pounds.


Skills and Attributes:


  • Has the knowledge and experience to operate a variety of equipment types
  •  Punctual and reliable.
  •  Complete understanding of safe and effective grading and earthmoving procedures.
  • Confidently and accurate turn client instructions and plans into a final product that meets all quality and accuracy metrics
  •  Uses effective judgment benefiting the client, the company, and the team.
  •  Follows instructions given by the Civil/Reclamation Manager.
  •  Appropriate appearance. Positive attitude. Respectful communication with clients and all employees.
  •  Creatively overcomes obstacles and committed to outstanding results.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with DTEC’s drug and alcohol policy at all times.
  • Prefer a CDL
  • Must be physically able to perform the job requirements and able to work in both the office environment and on site, outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
  • Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
  • Familiar with a variety of equipment, proficient at multiple types such as dozers, excavators, motor graders or skid steers.
  • Proficient with laser and GPS systems to assist in layout and operation of equipment.
