About the Role:
The filler operator runs our automated filling equipment, ensuring that the equipment is running safely, producing high-quality products, and running at production rates. The filler operator will be required to clean and sanitize specific parts of the equipment between batches. This individual will also need to be comfortable troubleshooting automated equipment and have the ability to find the root cause of issues and fix them. They are responsible for promoting safety, quality, and a positive work culture. The ideal filler operator candidate has experience in and a passion for small-batch personal care, food, or beverage production.
This role will report to the Production Manager.
This is a full-time onsite role based out of Brea, CA with company benefits. The anticipated base compensation for this role will be $21 - $22 /hr. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and local market rates.
What You'll Do:
Quality and Safety Management:
- Ensure quality and safety standards are always met in the production of high-quality fragrance and flavor compounds.
- Supervise strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company policies.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned stations.
Preparation and Supervision:
- Arrive 30 minutes before shift to set up for the day.
- Consistently communicate with the team and Manager.
- Oversee production execution and provide capacity/expected output numbers.
- Able to work overtime when necessary and wear respiratory protection for specific tasks.
Operational Excellence:
- Troubleshoot bottlenecks and modify the workstream to ensure goals are met.
- Operate various machines and equipment as needed (e.g., mixers, boilers, chillers, air compressors.)
- Interpret batch tickets to understand the production process fully.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Inventory and Documentation:
- Perform physical inventory counts of produced goods, document data in G-Sheets, and maintain accurate records of all ingredients used, quantities, and batch information.
- Utilize Slack to communicate any downtime, roadblocks
Communication and Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously support R&D and Leadership in improving processes.
- Occasionally pour scale-up sample requests from Product Development/Engineering.
Machine Operation
- Gather and measure necessary raw materials, ensuring accurate portions, and load them into machines as required.
- Conduct machine setups to initiate production cycles.
- Adjust machine functions and settings (e.g., valves, speed) according to batch sheet instructions.
- Troubleshoot bottlenecks in the production line, modify the workstream and operate various machines to ensure goals are met.
About You:
Experience and Skills:
- 2 years’ experience working and supervising a production team in a manufacturing facility, specifically in compounding and machine operation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, Quality, Packaging, and other departments.
- Proficient in mathematics and understanding detailed instructions and SOPs.
- Ability to read and understand specifications, schematics, and manuals.
Industry Interest and Innovation:
- Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries.
- Experience in the consumer products industry, especially compounding or machine operation, is highly preferred.
- Innovative mindset, capable of achieving results without perfect resources.
Attitude and Physical Capabilities:
- High standards, ownership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate an electric pallet jack or forklift.
- Positive attitude with a good sense of humor, capable of working under pressure.
- Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate machinery.
