Who We Are:
Dr. Wilkes specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle for all ages, infants through adults.
Dr. Wilkes is Board Certified in both Podiatric Medicine and Podiatric Surgery by the American Board of Multiple Specialties and the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Wilkes is a Podiatric Surgeon who specializes in all phases of lower extremity pain and pathology, which include: Achilles ruptures, ankle arthroscopy, bunions, hammertoes, tendon tears and ruptures, lateral ankle stabilizations, foot and ankle fractures, and laser treatment for nail fungus and other pathology. His expertise extends to orthotic treatment, rehabilitation, workers compensation injuries, and care for elderly and diabetic patients. His philosophy is to attempt conservative care treatment prior to considering surgery. His goal is to help patients return to the active lifestyle they desire.
What You'll Do:
The Medical Assistant works with the physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties. The medical assistant also works to fulfill a variety of patient needs and ensures smooth patient flow within the department.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Experience in an outpatient practice
- Able to coordinate NP services, assist patients with office, medications and procedure authorizations and explain process to patients
- Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office
- Ability to prioritize work efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice, which includes increasing work hours as needed to cover the practice needs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
- Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills.
Who You Are:
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of training
- Excellent working knowledge of primary podiatry diagnoses, related interventions and care protocols
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications
- Computer skills for Microsoft Office, electronic medical records and accessing email
- Basic medical terminology
