The Draper microfabrication facility is in need of an Equipment Specialist. Draper maintains a Microfabrication Facility, utilized by about 50 scientists, engineers, and technicians. The microfabrication work is mainly in the fields MEMS, photonics and microelectronics packaging with program scopes ranging from academic research to fieldable hardware. Typical responsibilities of the Equipment Specialist are as follows:
- Be part of the team responsible for equipment operation within specification.
- Help to develop and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain appropriate records and tracking of tool status, maintenance and issues.
- Coordinate with environmental, health and safety to ensure safe operation of toolset.
- Coordinate with process engineers to troubleshoot tool and process issues.
- Coordinate, schedule and escort vendors on-site as necessary.
- Coordinate with in-house facilities and security as necessary.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and decommission of outgoing equipment.
- Be available to respond to emergency situations as they may occur.
- Associate's degree with significant relevant experience or B.Sc. in engineering, chemistry, materials science, physics or other relevant field.
- Experience working with MEMS, semiconductor, photonics or advanced fabrication equipment systems including vacuum systems, high-voltage systems, chemical handling and high-temperature systems.
- Demonstrated trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in software and control systems for equipment toolsets.
- The individual must be self-motivated, inquisitive, and must thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment and be able to support projects with little supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to brief non-technical audiences, are required.
