Draper is looking for a microelectronics principal director to join its Electronic Systems business. As principal director, you will be responsible for Draper's microelectronics solutions portfolio working closely with engineering and across the entire Electronics Systems division to identify, develop, transition, and sustain Draper's safe and secure microelectronics for harsh environment national security solutions that serve customers in the defense and intelligence communities. Your key responsibilities include:
- Primary customer contact, advocate, and support for microelectronics across Draper, working across all 4 Draper business areas (Electronic Systems, Space Systems, Strategic Systems, and Biotechnology Systems)
- Responsible for portfolio program and product execution, leading a team of program and product managers to meet mission needs and financial goals (bookings, revenue, and margin targets)
- Define portfolio-specific specifications, business plans, and strategic roadmaps by collecting inputs from internal/external customers.
- Lead Draper's Microelectronics Resiliency initiative for microelectronics assurance, access, and availability for economic competitiveness and national security, including a multi-site Draper campus strategy to extend reach and enable onshore capability.
- Identify and develop strategic corporate and other external relationships.
- Work cross-functionally with legal, contracts, finance, IT, and facilities to ensure business objectives are met.
- Support corporate transformation initiatives, driving innovation, productization, and agility across Electronic Systems
- Live/act/lead our core values of people first, integrity, excellence, teamwork, and innovation
Required Qualifications:
- 20 years of management experience within both the Dept of Defense and Intelligence Community
- Proven track record of driving new technology market adoption and transition.
- Experience in product management in the aerospace and defense industries.
- Able to proactively assess the market trends and deliver products to meet the market demands
- Program management excellence
- Strong knowledge of the microelectronics ecosystem and current government initiatives
- Able to make timely, data-driven decisions when confronted with ambiguity or incomplete information.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with customers and at various organizational levels
- Passion about Draper's non-profit mission to make impact on the most challenging national security problems
- Secret clearance required, and eligible for Top Secret clearance. Top Secret clearance preferred.
