The Draper Strategic Systems Engineering Division is seeking a self-motivated systems engineer to develop SysML models and perform analysis of system behavior as part of our model-based systems engineering team. Using architectural modeling tools, such as MagicDraw, as well as working with those building physics-based models, you will join a team designing innovative, first-of-a-kind complex systems that integrate advanced technologies you will solve challenging national problems while satisfying requirements and maximizing stakeholder value. To effectively address these challenges, the ideal candidate would have the ability to become knowledgeable in various problem domains, identify relevant modeling and analysis techniques, develop or integrate multi-domain qualitative models and present results that support system-level analysis, performance trade-offs, and decision-making.
Typical job duties include designing and developing system architecture using SysML and simulations for complex systems. In addition, the candidate will work as a member of a cross-functional engineering team to frame architectures addressing challenges of customers in military, space, intelligence, and commercial applications. Responsibilities will also include assisting others in learning SysML and system model development processes and methods.
Communications and interpersonal skills are highly valued in this role. The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders of all relevant disciplines is a must. Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities will be required. We value continuous learning and professional growth.
Required:
- Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Engineering, Physics, or Science in a technically relevant field
- 10 or more years of experience in systems engineering and systems architecting using model-based engineering processes and tools
-Shape and lead the analysis of requirements in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment including stakeholders and external partners.
- Lead in the translation of requirements into technical and architectural decisions".
- Demonstrated expertise using SysML
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Relevant:
Experience with any of the following is relevant, but not required, for consideration for this position:
- Experience with MagicDraw SysML modeling tool and related products
- Knowledge in MATLAB/Simulink a plus. Experience in integrating descriptive modeling tools with other simulation tools a plus.
- Technical leadership, including technical decision oversight and team performance to budget and schedule
- Promote Draper expertise and leverage current technology standards to influence and innovate.
- Expertise with INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook or other government or industry Systems Engineering standards
- Experience modeling DoD weapons, navigation, or communications systems
