What are the responsibilities and job description for the [Summer 2023] Summer Data Intern position at DREAM?
Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of six PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Reporting to the Data Team, the Data Intern will conduct data entry and analysis for various DREAM summer projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to utilize their strong skills in Excel to support educational equity while gaining experience with data analysis.
\n- Review student data in hard copy and Excel and enter it into systems such as Salesforce, PowerSchool, and Edulastic
- Organize and analyze student assessment data
- Collaborate with the Data team to create data visualizations using Google Data Studio
- Walk program staff through the themes/trends of the data collected
- Attend Data team meetings
- Use Microsoft Excel and Salesforce to support additional Data team projects
- Other duties as assigned
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Google Suite required (Required Excel and Google Sheets skills include: Vlookup, sum, sumif, count, countif, conditional formatting)
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel & Google Sheets preferred (Index, small, row, match, iferror, if, nested ifs)
- Exemplary attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Computer science or SQL background, or interest in learning computer science or SQL, preferred
- A team player who can be relied on to get the job done through both proactive problem-solving and effective communication
- A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.
- 12-week internship with a start date in late May or early June
- Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 10am-3pm Eastern Time, with some flexibility
- Hybrid, with approximately 15 hours/week split between two DREAM locations:
- 1991 2nd Avenue, New York, NY
- 20 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NY
- DREAM offers competitive compensation. The hourly rate for this position is $17.
