What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler (5am - 3pm) position at DS Smith?
Responsibilities includes safety, quality of product produced, quantity of product produced, all reports and or data collection, and effective operation of the machine center. Assists the machine center as needed to maximize the setup and operation of the machine center in a timely manner. All individuals assigned to the Forklift/General Help are to work together in a safe, efficient and effective manner to insure the production of a quality product. To achieve this level of operations all employees are required to comply with all applicable Plant and OSHA safety rules.
NORMAL DUTIES include the following.
- Changing batteries in truck.
- Check fluid levels in both the battery being installed as well as the one being removed.
- Place stock on line for machine centers.
- Remove finish cartons as required by the machine centers.
- Maintain WIP areas.
- Remove waste sheets and cartons from machine centers and follow waste reporting system.
- Empty all trash cans and dumpsters in the work areas.
And other duties as assigned.
