Summary
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and directing environmental, health, and safety activities. This role ensures employee engagement, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of the EHS management system to protect human health and the environment in line with company policies and local and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish a culture aligned with company goals and objectives, focusing on continuous EHS improvements.
- Lead and assist in developing and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain, and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel at all levels, including SPAs and safety council team members, to achieve EHS goals and objectives safely and timely, while continuously striving to improve safety skills and awareness.
- Act as the key EHS liaison with cross-departmental and functional groups to execute strategic and tactical EHS plans.
- Identify potential risks, direct incident investigations to determine root causes of EHS incidents, and execute appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities (e.g., environmental organizations, safety agencies, fire departments) and internal Environmental, Health, and Safety contacts.
- Coordinate and assist in executing capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and timely completion, including recommending EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to meet regulatory standards.
- Oversee and manage Workers Compensation cases for the location.
Relationships and Responsibilities
- Oversee the direction, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of EH&S programs and initiatives.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in alignment with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- The EHS Manager reports directly to the Location Director of Operations, with a dotted line to the Business Unit EHS Director.
- Collaborate and interface with key internal functional departments, including HR, Engineering, ABS, Procurement, Maintenance, Operations supervisors, and other plant personnel.
- Maintain external relationships with Corporate EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors, and other relevant parties concerning EHS matters.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Environmental, Health, or Safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, with experience in developing, implementing, and managing EH&S programs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Favored Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- CSP, CIH, or ASP credentials.
- Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing.
