Position Overview:
The BIP/BMP Database Administrator/Software Developer (DBA/SD) will be responsible for managing the existing database as well as providing updates to the system and setting up new database systems. In addition, the DBA/SD will create or organize systems to store different types of data, and ensure databases run efficiently and securely. Also, the DBA/SD will query databases to generate reports and present such reports in a way that non-technical personnel in leadership can understand the data to make informed decisions.
The DBA/SD shall design, develop, install, patch, update, and test software/web applications used for the collection, storage, and management of bridge inspection data.
Must haves:
· The DBA/SD will be responsible for performing the tasks listed in below with a focus on web development: Programming Knowledge and Software Skills: Microsoft Power BI, Development of web applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Web Developer, Classic ASP, ASP.NET MVC, Visual Basic .NET, HTML/XHTML, JavaScript, jQuery, VBScript, Python, XML, CSS, JSON, Macro/VBA Programming, Microsoft SharePoint. Experience installing, patching, tuning, and maintaining Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, and Oracle on Windows servers. In-depth experience with object-oriented programming and database design. Relational database management in Microsoft SQL Server, Access, and Oracle. Knowledge of and participation in in bridge inspection trips for collection and QA/QC of structure condition data is a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Project Management: Apply Agile or similar project management methodologies for project development.
· Software Design and Development: Enhancing and maintaining the FLH Bridge Data Management Web System application.
· The FLH Bridge Data Management Web System application was created for the National Park Service (NPS) to view, analyze, and print online canned and ad hoc data reports; as well as current bridge inspection reports.
· The FLH Bridge web application also allows clients to view and print up-to-date bridge location maps for each NPS park that the Bridge Inspection Program (BIP) inspects.
