Summary
The Assistant Chief Pilot is accountable for the professional standards of the pilots under his/her authority, operations and training safety management goals. Oversees the day to day operations of the flight department, including but not limited to; working closely with and assisting the Crew Scheduler and ASO, including review of the flight risk assessment tools. The Assistant Chief Pilot assists the Chief Pilot with administering performance reviews, assisting with the hiring and on boarding of new pilots and overall management of pilots. Also responsible for meeting with customers on a daily to weekly basis to manage their expectations and ensure DST's customer service standards are met at all times. Works closely with hangar leads to assist with operational aircraft set up.
Principle Accountabilities
- Performing the duties of Line Pilot or Instructor Pilot when necessary;
- Assisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and qualification requirements for flight crews;
- Maintaining records pertaining to pilot certifications and currency.
- Issuing directives and notices to the flight crews as required;
- Ensuring that all aerodromes and routes served by the operator are operationally suitable and meet company requirements;
- Coordinating with ATC facilities in regards to operating and flight plan requirements;
- Following up on any accident, incident, and other occurrence reports;
- Supervising aircraft crews; and
- Assuming any responsibilities delegated by the Chief Pilot.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position including some unusual hours. The length of a work day varies depending on the customer requirements. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties and customers demand. Expected to arrive at HGR within one hour.
Travel
Travel will be required as requested by customers. Traveling includes overnight stays outside of the normal working location.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial AMEL,Commercial ASEL, as well as Instrument Airplane rating.
- Minimum of 1,000 hours in C208.
- Minimum of 1,000 hours in B350.
- IFR Rating.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimumof 2,000 hours in C208.
- Minimum of 2,000 hours in B350.
- Management Experience.
- Flight Instructor.
Other Hiring Requirements
- Has no accidents or incidents within the last five years.
- Has no FAA Sanctions within the last five years; and
- Learns and demonstrates knowledge of the content of the Flight Operations Manual, Training Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Employee Manual, and the provisions of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
- Current FAA First or Second Class Medical.
